The first week or so can be stressful for both teachers and students. One way I can feel more prepared as a teacher is to have a lot of fun ice breaker games and activities. One, that was a big hit last year, was my “get to know you” cootie catchers (aka Fortune Tellers). I also had a blank one to create their own, so fun!
Anyway I decided to extend this activity by making some Cootie Catchers that help review basic math skills, to get them back into the swing of math. Here is an example:
