Shape Of The Day Worksheets

These 30 shape (2D to 3D) think sheets (worksheets) can be used to reinforce, review, and challenge fraction knowledge. The collection progresses from basics like squares and other quadrilaterals to challenging decagons and triangular prisms. The sheets review the following:

2D Shapes – quadrilaterals (squares, rectangles, parallelograms, rhombi, trapezoids, kites), circle, triangles (right, equilateral, isosceles/obtuse, scalene obtuse), regular polygons (pentagon, hexagon, heptagon), irregular polygons (hexagon, octagon, nonagon, decagon, concave)

* area and perimeter

* symmetry

* shape names

* angles/vertices – right, acute, obtuse, and reflex

* lines/edges – perpendicular and parallel

* coordinates/coordinate plane

* classifying shapes

3D Shapes – cubes, rectangular prisms, stacked prisms, triangular prism, triangle pyramid, cylinder

* name

* vertices

* edges

* faces

* net

* surface area

* volume

Each page also has a “think about it” challenge, like “What’s the pattern? If a triangle’s interior angles add up to 180°, and a quadrilateral’s add up to 360°, and a pentagon’s add up to _______. What is next?”

Your students do not need to know any tricks or algorithms to figure these out, they just need time to think and see patterns.

How can I use this product?

As a whole class activity, by displaying the PDF file in front of the class, or printing and copy a set for each student to have them work through the sheets on their own or in a small group setting. I have placed them in sheet protectors and had students write on them using dry erase markers/washable markers.
